We're in a time of great controversy that I like to think the writing community will rally around and that the authors of these arguments will be successful in having them heard. Let's take a look at some of the trends you can expect this year.The presidential election has been going on for a while now, and I think it's time to get involved in politics if you're a writer. There are many reasons to do so. It may be the challenge to write compelling prose or it may be because you're not satisfied with your civic efforts. Regardless, now is the time to take a stab at politics. Let's look at the arguments and essays I'm hoping to see this year.There will be an essay that I'm very excited about this year. It will focus on the injustices people of color face. Not just in terms of criminal justice but in the everyday realm of life. This essay is intended to challenge our culture to improve these issues. I hope other writers write this type of essay this year.There will also be another essay on cultural and/or race related issues. This one will focus on 'what is hip or a fad?' Since so many people believe it's a fad, it's perfect for essay topics and should be some of the most popular articles to come out this year.There will also be another new wave in argumentative essay topics this year. It will focus on the benefits of reading books. To be fair, there have been essays before focusing on how reading helps people remember the past. But this one offers a chance to compare and contrast the benefits of reading with the 'books vs. the world' debate.The next argumentative essay topics will be on food. I have an essay on this topic planned for you very soon. In fact, I've already written it.
